Wolverine Machine was proud to be a repeat sponsor for the University of Michigan's Solar Car Team. We are currently in the process of water jet cutting some parts to be used for this year's car. See the testimonial below and some pictures of our past work with the Solar Car Team.

"The U of M Solar Car Team is excited to be in cooperation with Wolverine Machine again. In 2009 Wolverine helped us build a 1st prize car for the American Solar Challenge. This year we are trying to take first prize at the World Solar Challenge and are well on our way. Having high quality parts is a must to win the W.S.C. and we have our sponsors to thank. Michigan State Formula Racing Team

 Wolverine Machine was proud to sponsor the Michigan State Formula Racing Team this year. We manufactured parts on our water jet machine that were used mainly for the chassis. The team took some of their cars to this year's Detroit Auto Show. See the testimonial and pictures below.

"The Michigan State Formula Racing Team is a student run organization that designs, builds, and races a small, open-wheeled race car throughout the year. We take pride in running our organization as professionally and efficiently as possible, with the goal of creating the best racing car we can. Being a non-profit organization, we rely completely on our sponsors in order to obtain and machine all the parts required to build a functioning race car. Wolverine Machine supported our team this year by helping us water-jet our chassis inserts that are an integral part of the structure of our car. Helping us machine these parts saved us an enormous amount of time because we would have had to hand mill each part ourselves, which would have taken multiple days. Working with Wolverine Machine was quick, efficient, and we look forward to our future encounters with them because they were so helpful and so fast."

Lake Fenton Robotics Team visits Wolverine Machine

 Wolverine Machine welcomed 9 students and 2 teachers from the Lake Fenton Robotics Team on Dec. 19, 2012. The main goal was to spark the interest in the students of the opportunities available in manufacturing and engineering in an industrial setting. Many of these skilled trades have been absent from high schools and colleges over the past several years. This has caused a shortage of qualified individuals to fill positions in CNC operations that are available all over the United States.

The students were shown programming using the IGEMS software and saw up close our water jet machine in action. They looked on as our quality manager and technician showcased the Zeiss Contura G2 and how it checks all points of a part for the correct measurements. They watched demonstrations of how light curtains and bump switches work, the Kiwa 510 Vertical machining center and Miyano LZ auto load lathe. Lastly they stopped off at the Acme Gridley screw machines, which is where Wolverine Machine got its start.

Manufacturing is alive and well, especially in the State of Michigan and we are looking at the next generation to keep it going. It is still a vital part in which we live but could quickly disappear unless we educate and inspire.
